Join us for another PSPMI joint event with IEEE. Our speaker this time will be Greg Smith, Enterprise Agile trainer and coach, who will lead a discussion about being an Agile leader. The goal of this session is to help Agile leaders take their teams to a higher level. Areas and tools covered include:
- Improving team and personal communication skills with methods such as Johari’s window
- Using situational leadership to optimize team effectiveness
- Setting SMART goals for team member evaluations
- Working in Results Oriented Work Environments (ROWE)
- The pros and cons of teams that work from home
As a special bonus, Greg will also discuss common techniques for helping teams to improve their project processes with tools such as Pareto analysis, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis.
Presenter Bio
Greg Smith is an Agile coach and trainer who leads practical and successful Agile transformations for all types of organizations. He founded the Agile Transformation company, GS Solutions Group, in 2008. GS Solutions Group specializes in Agile training and the creation of custom Agile frameworks that thrive within a client's situation.
Greg has helped numerous Fortune 500 companies and major institutions move to Agile including CDW, TD Ameritrade, Microsoft, T-Mobile, Exxon Mobil, Costco, JP Morgan Chase, Nike, Allianz, and StubHub. He also has worked with Washington State agencies including WaTech; the Department of Early Learning; the Health Care Authority; the Office of the Attorney General; and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
Greg became the instructor for Agile Project Management at Bellevue College in 2005. In 2009 Greg authored Becoming Agile in an Imperfect World. This book has helped a number of companies move to a more effective Agile lifecycle, and is often used as a guide for entire project teams.
In addition to Agile, Greg specializes in Lean, company-wide business agility, and leadership training.
