Scaling Agile Frameworks

Every organization today needs agility and scale to thrive.  Ever since the Agile Manifesto was written in 2001, more and more organizations are becoming agile.  The 2021 State of Agile Report stated that 94% of the surveyed organizations are experienced in agile. 

Our problem today is not whether or not agile works.  We know it works.  Our problem today is how to scale agile.  This is because as well as agile has been working, it works much better for small teams than for a large organization.  Large organizations are looking for a way, a system, a framework to be agile beyond teams’ agility.  Large organizations are looking to create an enterprise agility.

In this session we will compare and contrast some of the popular scaling frameworks, including Scrum@Scale/ Scrum of Scrums, Enterprise Scrum, Disciplined Agile, LeSS (Large Scale Scrum), the Spotify Model and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).  The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) continues to be the leading frameworks with 37% of respondents identifying it as the framework they most closely follow. SAFe significantly outdistances the next nearest scaling method, Scrum@Scale/Scrum of Scrums (9%).
